Rob Black, Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator
Years at Fulton: 21, 1st Year: 1991
Coach Rob Black became Fulton’s 12th head football coach on January 19, 2011, joining his dad, Bob Black, on the list of FHS head coaches. Prior to becoming head coach, he served as offensive coordinator for 19 years. He is the architect of Fulton’s record setting multiple offense. Nearly every offensive school record has been set during his tenure since 1992 as Offensive Coordinator. Black graduated from Fulton in 1984, and was a three-sport athlete. He played both football and baseball while at Carson-Newman. Black served as a volunteer assistant at Fulton for several years before joining the staff full time in 1991. Coach Black earned his first win as head coach with a 31-14 victory at Pigeon Forge in 2011. He also served as Fulton’s baseball coach from 2002-2005.
Bob Black, Offensive Line
Years at Fulton: 47, 1st Year: 1965
Coach Bob Black has been a staple of Fulton athletics for nearly 50 years. Black graduated from Fulton in 1960, and played football collegiately at Carson-Newman. He returned to coach at his alma mater in 1965, and has served as an assistant coach for his entire stint, except for two years as head coach in 1969 and 1970. He was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2008, and into the Fulton Wall of Fame in 2009.
Jeff McMillan, Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line
Years at Fulton: 1, 1st Year: 2011
Jeff McMillan joined the Fulton staff in the spring of 2011 after serving as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Central High School for 24 years. McMillan helped guide the Bobcats to an appearance in the Clinic Bowl state championship game in 1999. His defenses are known for their blitzing and aggressive play. Fulton shut out Gatlinburg-Pittman 21-0 in 2011 to earn his first shutout as DC.
Vincent Lambdin, Defensive Ends
Years at Fulton: 14, 1st Year: 1998
Vincent Lambdin is one of the most versatile members of the Fulton staff, coaching numerous positions while on the staff at Fulton. He joined the staff in 1998 as Head Freshmen coach. Lambdin serves as an academic counselor to Fulton athletes through the Play It Smart program. He was a member of the Fulton football teams during the mid-80s.
Jay Humphrey, Running Backs/Special Teams
Years at Fulton: 11, 1st Year: 2001
Texas High School Football legend Jay Humphrey joined the Fulton staff in 2001, and has tutored some of Fulton’s greatest running backs. Humphrey had the honor of coaching his sons Derrick and Desmond during Fulton’s 2006 championship season. He took over Special Teams coordinator duties in 2009.
Micaiah Smoker , Defensive Backs
Years at Fulton: 6, 1st Year: 2006
Coach Micaiah Smoker is another former Falcon that is now a member of the coaching staff. Smoker played running back for Fulton from 1989 to 1991. In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Smoker helps coordinate Fulton’s Strength and Conditioning program.
Pete Stout, Tight Ends
Years at Fulton: 6, 1st Year: 2006
Pete Stout joined the Fulton coaching staff in 2006 after a long stint as an assistant coach at Union Co. High School. Stout handles coaching the Falcon tight ends. He played in high school at Central, and was a member of the University of Tennessee basketball team during the Ernie and Bernie era of the 70s.
Jason Harbison, Linebackers
Years at Fulton: 3, 1st Year: 2009
Jason Harbison joined the Fulton coaching staff in 2009 after serving in various other capacities in the program. Harbison was a teammate of Rob Black on the Fulton teams of the early 1980s. Harbison played football and baseball at Maryville College, and was inducted into the Scot’s Wall of Fame in 2008.
Justin Long, Wide Receivers
Years at Fulton: 3, 1st Year: 2009
Justin Long will long be remembered by Falcon fans for quarterbacking Fulton to its first state championship in 2003. Long accounted for a combined 49 rushing and passing touchdowns in the championship season. He continued his football career at Carson-Newman College, where he played both quarterback and wide receiver.
Rob Black, Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator
